A graduate of Harvard University and Harvard Business School, Sheryl Sandberg is the Chief Operating Officer of Facebook, second in command to CEO Mark Zuckerberg. 

 

In her role, she is in charge of sales, business development, public policy and communications.  One of her key areas of focus is international growth for the social networking site.  The site recently made its offerings available in French, German and Spanish and, within the next few months, will be translated into 21 additional languages.  In Sandberg's prior position at Google, Vice President of Global Online Sales and Operations, she oversaw a staff of 4,000 and turned the unit into Google's largest revenue producer.

 

Sandberg has siginicant experience including Chief of Staff for Larry Summers at the US Treasury Department during the Clinton Administration.  She was also a management consultant at McKinsey as well as an economist at The World Bank.

 

Sandberg consistently supports woman and philanthropic issues.  She serves on the board of  Women for Women International and helped form Google's philanthropic division.  In 2007, at the age of 38, she was the youngest person on Fortune's listing of the 50 Most Powerful Women.
