UCLA Magazine Title IX Story

UCLA is known for its great sports teams and stellar athletes.  The October 2007 issue of UCLA Magazine featured a story on Title IX and its impact on American sports and UCLA sports history.

The October issue of UCLA Magazine featured an article about the 35th anniversary of Title IX.  Thirty of the UCLA’s record 100 NCAA titles came from women's teams, all in just the past 25 years.  Athletic Director Dan Guerrero states it is "a testament to the success of Title IX.". The article highlights the progress made under Title IX including facilities and equipment now available to female athletes, an upgrade from famed "green trailer" that sat on the grass outside the Women's Gym and for years served as the home of the Women's Athletic Department.

Despite the success, the article also highlights the challenges and tough decisions resulting from the university’s efforts to enforce Title IX
