Anita Hill: The Legacy of Title IX
Anita Hill is best known for her role in Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas’ confirmation hearings and bringing the topic of sexual harassment to the attention of a nation. Currently, she is a professor at the Heller School of Policy and Management at Brandeis University and recently wrote an editorial piece in the Boston Globe regarding the legacy of Title IX.
Hill uses the Rutgers’ women’s basketball team to highlight role of the Title IX legislation in creating opportunities for girls and women as well as to demonstrate the benefits that sports participation provides. She also notes the continued challenges to the legislation and her hopes for the futures of young girls and women including her 7-year-old great-niece.
