Los Angeles Sparks forward Tina Thompson has become the WNBA’s career leading scorer.  Thompson surpassed Lisa Leslie, who retired last season after amassing 6,263 points.  Thompson is the last of the original WNBA players. The Houston Comets selected Thompson from the University of Southern Caliornia with the first pick of the 1997 W.N.B.A. draft. When the Comets discontinued operations after the 2008 season, Thompson signed with the Sparks as a free agent.
