Title IX: The Journey Continues
selected story
"Movin' On"
Donna Orender, a former PGA executive who took over the reigns of the WNBA in 2005, is resigning at the end of the year to launch her own marketing, media and strategy company. During Orender's tenure, the league negotiated an eight-year extension of the league's television rights with ABC and ESPN2 as well as a six-year contract extension with the league's players association. Sponsorship deals were also secured to have logos on the jerseys of four teams. However, the WNBA has lost three teams in the past four years and a fourth team was sold and moved to Tulsa. One of Orender's first clients with her new company will be the WNBA.
