The Committee of 200
The Committee of 200 is a non-profit organization whose membership includes the elite business women in the country. Currently that have more than 460 members who collectively control over $100 billion in revenues annually. members come from more than 100 industries and include both entrepreneurs and corporate executives. Membership is by invitation only.
The organization was founded in Los Angeles in 1982 when a small number of influential women in business gathered to raise funding for the National Association of Women Business Owners (NAWBO). the group raised more than $200,000 and ultimately decided to create a national network that could tap into the experience and expertise of women at the top levels of business.
Despite high-profile founding members such as Muriel Siebert, Kathryn Graham and
Sherry lansing, the group keeps a very low profile and was once called by Business
Week "the most high-powered organization you've never heard of." In 1986,
the Committee of 200 created the C200 Foundation which offers grants and tools to
women to become successfulentrepreneurs and businesswomen. The foundation's
efforts include mentoring, scholarships and education.
