While the United States continues to discuss the prospect of electing a female President in 2008, many countries around the world have already experienced this political “first.” Countries such as Chile, Switzerland, Liberia, Sri Lanka, Ireland and Peru currently are or have been governed in the past by female presidents and prime ministers, many of whom are members of the Council of World Women Leaders.
